SIGN-UP ;

▐ you absolutely MUST be 13 YEARS OR OLDER to join this site. there are no ifs ands or buts about it. this is a rule set by proboards and when you agree to their TOS you agree that you are 13 or over. so if we find out that you're under 13 you will be removed from the site. if you got a problem with that, then go build your own message board.

▐ okay, so... you might notice that most the the accounts are in UPPERCASE and have FIRST MIDDLE AND LAST NAME. we would like for you to change your account name to look like that. pretty please! it makes the site look so much more organized. oh, and for those who have characters who go by nicknames, you should put it like this: FIRST "NICKNAME" MIDDLE LAST NAME.

▐ APPLICATIONS ARE MANDATORY. for those who hate apps we do have a short one, but there is absolutely no reason why anyone should NOT do an app. don't say the admins don't have to because we do. please please please don't bitch and complain about the apps. this is NOT a no-app site and we hope that is understood before you join. DON'T FORGET: CUT OFF TO BE A RUN-AWAY IS 20 YEARS OLD.


ATTITUDINAL RULES ;

▐ DO NOT STEAL. PERIOD. we really shouldn't have to make this an issue, but lately there seems to have been a lot of things come up on different sites about things being stolen. so here's the deal. ff we find out that you've stolen ANYTHING from ANYONE on this site or anyone else's, then not only will your account be deleted and banned, but we WILL report you to proboards. please don't make us do that.

▐ we don't want to see any fighting. if for some reason you have a problem, then please talk to an admin. we admins are here to keep the peace and ensure a positive and healthy roleplay environment. if you feel for any reason that another member is causing you to want to do something stupid then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take it to an admin through pm. don't want to see any cbox feuds or arguments. there's no need for that kind of immaturity.

▐ NORTHERN DOWNPOUR is a PG-13 site. please understand that there will more than likely be sexual references, drugs, alcohol, and other sorts of things like that which are way inappropriate for young eyes or offend people much too easily. so if you think that that sort of thing may offend you, then you probably don't need to join.

▐ please be active. really we don't ask for a lot. we'd just like for you to sign in to all of your accounts once a day and post at least twice a week. we often have activity checks just to keep people checking in so please don't let it slip by you. there's nothing worse than an rper who joins a site and never does an app or anything and just leaves. if you do join, then please realizing you're promising us that you will be active.


CHARACTER CREATION ;

▐ please don't post anywhere before your app is finished unless it's in ooc. ooc is fine (aside from the ic games and such). but don't start making posts with your character before they're accepted. we will move your character's app once it is accepted, then you may go post until your heart is content... AFTER you do your claims, hahaha.

▐ this is a REAL-LIFE rp and we expect you to stick to real-life things. no characters with superpowers, no witches/warlocks, no dragons, no talking animals. just stay realistic. not to say your character can't have unique features, in fact, we welcome uniqueness. but we want you to be as realistic with that as possible. be creative and come up with your own character, but just realize that this does happen to be a real-life rp.

▐ well, there is NO character limit at the moment. you can have as many characters as you can keep up with. the only catch... is the must all remain active. the activity rule applies to all of them. you should log into all their accounts once a day and try to post with all of them at least twice a week. if you can't handle ten characters up to that standard, then don't try it.

▐ here's the deal about play bys. THEY MUST BE A REAL LIVING PERSON. no anime, cartoons, comics, or anything that is not a living human being. this is real-life, not cartoon world. so we'd appreciate it if you would just kind of keep that in mind. don't you dare tell us it LOOKS realistic either. if we can tell the pb came from a video game you will be asked to change it.

▐ respect our app and don't bullshit it. because people do this we stopped asking for paragraphs and started asking for word limits. we do read the apps so please don't bullshit and do a half-ass job. show us you care to develop your character further than a few lines of random rambling.


POSTING REQS;

▐ we do have a word limit. our word limit is 450 WORDS. it may seem like a lot, but we're tired of letting people get away with 200 some odd word posts. please try and make it up to 450. if you don't think you can get to 450 then please don't join then post in the 200-300 range. we will be monitoring post length. obviously we won't call people out for being at 440 or something, but if it's drastic, then expect a pm.

▐ posts should be in third person past tense. so it should be like: brooke walked down to the store and bought a bb gun.


OTHER STUFF;

▐ avatars can be up to 150x200. signatures should not stretch the board. our rule for signatures is that if you want a big one, then fine, but your posts need to be as long if not longer than your signature. also, if it stretches then we will resize without your consent.


▐ these rules are subject to change. the date that they are updated will be added to the title. be sure to pay attention. also, upon joining you accept the rules and are telling us that you will follow them to the best of your ability and that you realize that if they are broken that there may be consequences that follow up.
