THE DOWNPOURS OF LIFE ARE NEVER ENDING. WITHOUT CEASING, THESE downpours have absolutely no regard for on who or when they act. These downpours cause waves of doubt, uncertainty, confusion, and strife. They are a teenager's worst enemy. Not many have figured out a way to stop these downpours from causing people to question their life. Have you ever stopped to wonder just exactly what your purpose is? Do you often wonder about why you can't seem to do anything right? Has terrible thing after terrible thing made itself present in your life? Who knows? Maybe you have life figured out and everything is just a walk in the park for you. Maybe you don't need any guidance and the downpours of life have bypassed you. Or maybe you're just not willing to admit that things are worse than they really are.
NORTHERN DOWNPOUR IS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BROKEN DOWN AND HAVE given up trying to overcome the downpours of their lives. Maybe your parents weren't the best parents in the world. Maybe you felt as if too many things had fallen apart and there was no time to put them back together again. Maybe you just felt like you needed an escape. St. John's Institution is a place where those who felt the need to escape or run away from home may go to find some peace. SJI offers food and shelter as well as a supportive climate for the needs of those who have run away. They offer a temporary fix to these downpours, wishing to enable them to move out and take control of their own lives. SJI wants to teach these runaways how to "melt their headaches and call the world their home".
SJI TAKES IN RUNAWAYS AND HELPS THEM ALONG UNTIL THEY ARE UP TO 20 years of age. Then the runaways are urged to move out into the real world and make a living for themselves despite their downpours. Though SJI cannot promise a cure for the downpours, they can at least provide the necessary things for someone to overcome them. Of course, there's absolutely no way to completely do away with life's downpours and they pain the cause. SJI cannot cater to EVERYONE'S needs. The question is, will you be able to "melt your headaches and call it home?" Or will you ever be able to find a "home" again?
