Boston Prepatory Academy is a very exclusive school, primarily attended by the wealthy and the gifted. The tuition is quite expensive, and scholarships are not easy to obtain. For the students who pay tuition, everything is smooth sailing, but for the scholarship students, it is a fight to stay on top, because there is always someone out there dying to snatch up your spot the minute your grade or athletic performance drops. Because of this, there is often a lot of tension between fellow scholarship students, and jealous feelings about the wealthier students. Class sizes are extremely small, with only twenty students in each grade, adding to the exclusivity of the school, and the difficulty for a scholarship student to hold their spot. In such a small school, students know nearly everyone in attendance, and it is easy for secrets that would be better kept hidden to be discovered by their peers.
