Waking up to the sound of a bluebird, Dominique wasn't one of those girls who wanted to grab a random shotgun and shoot it. She was one who felt a poetic pull to start singing. Like some Disney fairytale. She begun to spin herself around her dorm and her nightgown began to lift lightly into the air. It was the kind of thing that automatically got her into a light and fluffy mood. Sunshine flooded into the dorm in that early morning way. Dominique danced her way over to get dressed. She tripped over her own foot as her waking body remembered she could not dance.
An hour later she found herself walking through the Mall, she remembered seeing it earlier and her rising mood made her want to explore what exactly Chicago had in store. There was of course many girly clothing stores that her girly attitude suggested would be a fantastic fit but in the end she found herself walking into Barnes & Noble. Personally she preferred Borders, but books had always been a soothing thing to her. Reading one was the ability to have an imagination without being categorized insane. Plus the thought of reading a dusty old book by the fireplace would always be a dream to put herself to sleep.
Yes, Barnes & Nobles turned out to be just as magnificant as it had promised. The books were fully stocked and she wondered how it was not filled to the brim. Instead most of it's glorious isles were empty and the books had never been touched. Perhaps it was new and unexplored territory. Or maybe people in Chicago just didn't read. She waltzed down science fiction isles and found they had been run over with vampire nonsense. Instead she sat down in the historical fiction lane and began to pack books around her. Sitting on the carpet she realized she had not been in touch with humanity all day. Looking both ways she saw no signs of this lost humanity.
It was the same thing that always ruined her mood, thoughts. Memories. The outside world trying to poke itself in. She remembered how she hadn't spoken to anyone all day and that she was afraid of friendship. Of course she tried to take her mind off of it, pulling a book of it's shelf and trying to read the back. The words couldn't be made out, she realized tears were clouding her vision. Her mood was lost to the stars. Either she would shake herself out of it or she would break down completely. As she did shake her self, looking down at her touching feet her hair moved and she wasn't able to see the shadow of a passerby.
